Bryan and his family strolled by the lake. There were other vacationers in their group. They were a mixed bunch, including a photojournalist, a general, and a scientist.
As he stared across the placid water, Bryan thought, "It's great to be on vacation, to get away from it all, to relax and...."
In the center of the loch the water was roiling, churning. Suddenly flame erupted from the boiling water. A creature lashed back and forth in the water as if it were trying to break free of its cocoon. Then the gigantic creature sprang from the loch. It was reptilian with long neck and great majestic wings. The tail looked as if it could reach across New York. From the creature's mouth frothed waves of bluish flame, while its forked tongue whipped out into the air.
The general said, "I must call the army. We must research its fiery breath. It could be a powerful weapon.
The photojournalist said, "I must run and get my camera crew. This should be the world's news."
The scientist said, "I must get my research team down here to study its immune system and to research how it lives underwater without gills."
The general, photojournalist, and scientist rushed away. The only people left on the shore were Bryan and his family. Bryan's kids said, "Wow." A chorus of "oohs" and "ahs," sounding like revelers at a firework display, ensued.
As the small audience watched, the creature soared into the sky and through the atmosphere. Bryan looked up, saw the creature join its celestial brothers and sisters, and thought, "Cool."
Bryan thought as he saw the flames, "If humans are parasites living on an egg, I wonder if we could scramble it."
"We would need a huge frying pan though."
Moral: It you witness a once-in-a-lifetime
event, don't attempt to study, record, or analyze it, just experience it.
